Rowan and Florida Gulf State were the biggest movers in the first ACHA DII Southeast Region ranking, just released.
Rowan, winner of all nine of its games, soared from No. 9 at the end of last season to No. 2 behind 8-0-0-0 Miami.
Florida Gulf Coast, last season’s national champion and a fixture in the ranking’s top slot in recent years, tumbled all the way to No. 9 after compiling a 3-4-1-0 record out of the gate.
Unranked last season, 5-3-0-0 Toledo sits in the No. 6 position, while Delaware’s 6-4-0-0 record was good enough for No. 11.
Ranked last season but on the outside looking in this weekend is Kentucky. No. 6 last season, Kennesaw State consolidated its DII and DIII teams into a single squad and is competing at the lower level in 2012-13.
Nine of the 15 ranked teams are from Mid-Atlantic College Hockey. Three of the others are members of the Tri-State Collegiate Hockey League.
The entire ranking, with each team’s 2011-12 final regular-season position in parentheses and its record through Nov. 1 on the right, is:
