The UT Hockey team is very happy to announce the promotion of Kyle Measles to Head Coach for the 2021-2022 season. For the past two seasons, Coach Measles had worked as an assistant coach for the Rockets, primarily focused on the defenseman. During those two years, Measles was provided with opportunities to expand his role and responsibilities within the team which ultimately led to his promotion when the head coaching position became available.
The programs General Manager, Greg Urig, had this to say about the new head coach, “I am very excited to make this promotion official and make this announcement. Having worked with Kyle during these last two years, I’ve seen first hand the amount of dedication and passion he has for the game and specifically for our program. He has been an integral part of everything we have done over the past year and a half and I’m looking forward to working with him as we continue to build our program.”
Coach Measles came to the UT program after a playing career that included two years of junior experience in the Greater Metro Hockey League (GMHL) and four years of varsity play at Whitmer High School in Toledo. On both of those teams, Measles had leadership roles including being team captain his final year of junior hockey. Kyle currently resides in Toledo with his wife Shelby, new son Chase, and their dog Bauer.

The team’s home opener will be Saturday, Oct 9 at the Team Toledo Ice House against John Carroll University. Be sure to check out the schedule portion of the website to see all of your chances to watch the Rockets play.
